Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Engineer – Quality Control who have sound judgment, excellent interpersonal skills and high standards. Success will require attention to detail, a safety-oriented attitude, flexibility, and enthusiasm for cutting-edge technology.

You will be responsible for the overall quality of the products and services delivered to customers. You will design and implement measures and processes to assess and improve product quality against defined requirements during various manufacturing steps. You will lead continual improvement of procedures/practices for quality control while adhering to compliance as per QMS requirements, be a technical lead of the quality control team with responsibilities including managing of staffing, hiring, performance reviews and engagement of team members. You will work independently with minimal supervision by defining periodic goals with senior management and tracking/reporting on the same.

Responsibilities

Develop and drive implementation of inspection methods and processes for incoming, in-line and final inspections to ensure product quality meet specifications.

Continuously improve processes using LEAN/Six Sigma principles.

Ensure that inspections are conducted as per established procedures at every required stage of manufacturing in a timely and effective manner

Define qualification requirements for quality inspectors and ensure that all the inspectors are qualified as per required standards. Identify training gaps for inspectors, schedule effective training, and ensure delivery of on the job and off the job training programs for inspectors

Ensure that appropriate instruments/tools are used for quality control and maintain calibration and records of the same, as applicable. Ensure that all inspection reports are documented as per QMS Standards

Monitor part rejection levels, analyze root cause, create and implement appropriate CAPAs (Corrective Actions / Preventive Actions) for in-house as outsourced processes in order to meet quality improvement targets

Monitor and reduce cost of internal failures, cost of external failures, preventive cost and total cost of quality

Collect issues identified by customer support/service team to define product and process improvement areas.

Determine gaps in process activities product design leading to poor product quality performance, identify and implement future improvement opportunities

Prepare periodic MIS reports (inspection reports, failure rates, CAPAs etc.) for reporting to management

Represent Quality in Failure Analysis review meetings and cross-functional team meetings

Represent Quality in internal and external process audits.

Verify implementation of actions derived from audits.

Set performance targets for quality control and enable continuous performance improvement through performance reviews and feedbacks

Encourage the team for continuous process improvement through development and implementation of improvement initiatives

Take overall ownership of quality function/team including planning, budgeting, hiring and management of resources for the function

Requirements

  • Experience in quality control processes/procedures of both mechanical and electronics parts is strongly preferred
  • Ability to understand and decipher technical drawings, ability to develop methods and processes for implementation of quality standards in a manufacturing environment, ability to prepare and interpret quality inspection reports
  • Experience in implementation of qualitative and quantitative tools used in quality control
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of different inspection techniques
  • Knowledge of different manufacturing processes (non-conventional and traditional).
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes for both mechanical (plastic, metal, composite) and electronics parts (PCBs, cable harnesses) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in preparing, managing and complying with international QMS standards (ISO, AS9100 etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FME Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Techniques, RCCA Knowledge on health and safety, hazards and precautions associated with manufacturing
  • Problem solving skills, planning and organizing, self-management, leadership skills, team management
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering OR
  • 5+ years quality control experience in aerospace/automotive/ electronics manufacturing industries.
